My research is at the intersection of Statistics and Education. My doctoral research focuses on the teaching of statistics & data science, including text analysis of syllabi, latent profile analysis of statistics course-takers, embedding critical thinking and ethics instruction into introductory programming curricula, and measuring the interpretability and trustworthiness of machine learning models among high schoolers. This year, I am teaching a new course I developed, "Big Data, Surveillance, Algorithmic Bias, and Ethics in Education Data Science," with my incredible colleague Avriel Epps-Darling.
